Almost 20 years ago, ExCEL was born. In 2005, while serving on the Black Student Union at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, I developed the ExCEL Youth Project, a program that helped high school students learn college and career readiness skills. We launched in 5 schools in collaboration with 3 different student organizations and served over 200 students.

We also supported the admissions office in bringing over 100 black, brown, and indigenous students to the university for a full immersion weekend. It was then that I realized the importance of students and organizations committing to cultivating organizational practices that can move the needle forward in supporting the diverse needs of students.

Fast forward to 2022, I have been able to connect with three other amazing leaders across the valley to be able to develop training and professional developments that ensure that organizations are committed to being able to implement change. ExCEL represents Excellence in Cultivating Exceptional Leaders. That begins with connecting with current leaders who are about doing the work.

I am excited to continue our vision of cultivating exceptional leaders who are committed to changing the world.

Sincerely,
